Welcome to the Village of Jefferson, OH, the County Seat of Ashtabula County, situated 10 miles from Lake Erie and 10 miles from the Pennsylvania border. The Village of Jefferson is a family oriented community with an all American hometown environment. While primarily residential, the Village strikes a nice balance with commercial and industrial activity and encourages investment and growth.
We focus on ensuring continued beautification of our community, with tree lined streets, regular sidewalk and street maintenance, and downtown beautification in collaboration with the Garden Club.
You’ll also find Jefferson to be a safe community, with a dedicated police force and volunteer fire department.

To The Citizens of the Village of Jefferson:
It has come to the attention of the administration of the Village of Jefferson that statements are being made by individual(s) that the Village of Jefferson has retained a outside group and/or consultants to assist the Village of Jefferson with exercising its powers of eminent domain to obtain ownership of certain parcels of real property throughout the Village of Jefferson. These statements are not true. The Village of Jefferson has not retained any outside group and/or consultants to advise it on exercising its powers of eminent domain with respect to any properties located within the Village of Jefferson. If at any time the Village of Jefferson determines it is necessary for it to exercise its powers of eminent domain, there is a specific statutory procedure that it must follow and any proposed affected property owners would get notified accordingly by the administration of the Village of Jefferson and/or its legal counsel.
