Delinquent Accounts Sewer and Refuse Assessments:
Last Day to Pay is Tuesday, August 15th
Sewer and/or Refuse charges that are more than 60 days old and still showing as delinquent will be assessed to the owners’ property taxes due in January 2024. To avoid assessment, payments must be received by August 15, 2023. Payments received after August 15th will be credited to the customer account.
Please remember when your sewer & refuse bill is late a 6% penalty applies. When the bill is still not paid, and then assessed to the real estate taxes an additional 20% penalty is applied. Save money and pay your bill on time.
Sewer Service
Sewer service is provided by Jefferson Village. A sewer deposit of $40.00 is required for new sign-ups. This will be applied to your final bill and any balance will be refunded. Sewer charges are billed for water used and are billed after the water meter is read. Your final bill will be calculated after the water company has given us a final meter reading.
Trash Service
The exclusive trash provider, for all single family and duplex Jefferson residence, is Waste Management. A trash deposit of $60.00 is required at time of signup. You will be billed for this service by the Village, along with your sewer service, every two months. We ask that you notify us in advance of large amounts being put at the curb. Large amounts of household refuse will be cleaned up, but there will be an additional charge according to the amount set out this charge will show up on the next sewer / refuse bill. See bulk item collection information below.
To encourage recycling and saving landfill space, the EPA has restricted us from hauling leaves, tree trimmings, grass, vehicle batteries, tires, appliances, liquid paint, used motor oil, cement blocks and bricks.
Holidays that may affect your service day include: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Christmas Day, and New Years Day.
Annual Curbside Clean up is the 2nd Saturday in May.
Curbside Recycling is included in the Village Trash program.
