Meet the Team

Steven Murphy

Steven S. Murphy was appointed as Jefferson Village Administrator in April of 2025. Before joining the village, Steven spent 20 years dedicated to law enforcement, mostly with the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office. There, Steven started as a Dispatcher, then was quickly promoted to Deputy Sheriff. In 2015, Steven was awarded Deputy of the Year. In 2019, Steven was promoted to Sergeant, then in 2021, Steven was promoted to Lieutenant, where he served on the Administrative Staff for Sheriff William R. Neimi. As Lieutenant, Steven handled day-to-day operations, Uniform Division Commander, Emergency Communications (911) Commander, K9 Unit Commander, grant writing, grant management, community engagement, served on several Ashtabula County committees, and served as Vice President of the Local Emergency Planning Committee (LEPC). Steven has been very active within the county school systems, teaching youth, engagement, seminars, assemblies, and working with Ashtabula Safe Communities on drug and alcohol impairment awareness within the high schools.

 

Steven Murphy was born and raised in the Geneva area and currently resides in Geneva City with his wife, Bobbi Jo, and two children, Austin and Kaylyn. Steven’s son Austin, is currently pursuing an Aviation Degree from Bowling Green State University and is serving in the Air Force ROTC program. Kaylyn is in high school and is actively involved in several sports and hobbies.

 

Steven still holds his law enforcement commission through the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, where he has built a reputation of honor, respect, and professionalism. As Steven transitions into his new role, he will bring these traits with him and continue to be the best public leader he can be every single day. Steven lives by the phrase “Act Sharp, Be Sharp, Look Sharp”.
